Hello!
We're home! And BOY did we have a wonderful time! Ireland and Northern Ireland are truly beautiful, fantastic pieces of God's masterpiece. Imagine what it would have been like before the Fall? ... incredible...
As you heard via our last post, we were at a point in our travels where we felt that we had accomplished what the Lord had for us, and that He was freeing us to either stick around or head home, or go wherever! We contacted a small handful of people, thinking that we'd either go north into Scotland, or a bit south to Belfast, but the offers for us had fallen through. Some cool opportunities for work and living arrangements had oppened up back home, and as we were beginning to really miss you guys, our dear family and friends, we pointed our compasses west.
So we're back! We're living and working in Maple Ridge, staying with my parents for a bit all the while looking for a basement suite to rent. We've recovered from jet lag and are eager to see friendly faces :) Thank you for sharing in our adventure... we will see you soon! May the Lord bless you for the prayers, the love and the support we received from you while we were abroad. Cheers!

I've come to realize how we take so much for granted. I take so much for granted. I'm really learning that out here in Ireland! I've had only two pairs of clothes (I usually just wear pretty much all the clothes at once though, cuz it's cold! I should have left my bikini and shorts at home, lol!); we have had to rely on other people to house us; I never thought I would be SO happy to see a washing machine! And fingernail clippers!--I clipped my nails for THE FIRST time yet today! Isn't that so gross? Haha, a couple weeks ago I bit off my fingernails because they were getting so long, but clearly I wasn't about to do that to my TOEnails. In spite of my flexibility and that I potentially could bite them off, who would do that?? Anyway, Koni had a pair of clippers I used! Bliss :). Today at church I turned around for some reason, and at JUST that moment, Anna Gerard (a close friend from Camp Qwanoes 2006) walked in the door! I was gob-smacked! (The British use that word often to mean extremely shocked or surprised :).) Anna is from Belfast and we had emailed her before we left, hoping to meet up at some point, but she didn't respond to the email (as she was away on holidays for the entire summer). AND THEN, she decided to come to the Causeway Coast Vineyard today, which is quite a ways from her home and home church! I'm sooo glad we got to meet up! David and I will most likely be leaving from Belfast en route to our next location, and she's offered to make us dinner and show us around the big city (ha, as our first experience there--remember, sleeping on the street?--wasn't the grandest! ;)), and give us a bed to stay in for a night or two! It's just sooo cool! Haha, the other day we were counting our change (which has been a bit of a task in itself because we went from Pounds Sterling to Euro and then back to the quid!), and David asked if I had one more 'pent'. He thought pence were 'pents' like 'cents!' Bless him. I did laugh lots though :). BUT it is a bit tricky because everyone says 'one pence,' but the actual coin says 'one penny' so it's no wonder we're confused :). It was the best of times, it was the best of times... WHOA, craziest few days ever! Hahaha, this most certainly IS an adventure! [Written previously on August 12] Oh man, we woke up this morning and David's WHOLE foot is SUPER swollen and sore to the touch! I knew we needed to get him to a doctor--fast! His stomach was very crampy also, and the pain was moving up his leg. I asked Rory about a clinic, and after hearing David's symptoms, he proceeded to call a doctor on our behalf. We wanted to bless the hostel and Rory for all his help, so we cleaned the entire kitchen. After a few calls, Rory informed us that there was a doctor in the village (about a 10 minute walk), and we headed off. While David went in to wait for the doctor, I went to call our travel insurance people. If you don't call before you get treatment, you risk not getting coverage. The number on our card didn't even exist, and I tried the other number numerous ways, and still couldn't get through... I took a deep breath and headed back to the clinic, praying that this bill wouldn't get stuck with us. Turns out, David has cellulitis (his response to that: "Isn't that something that fat people get?" Haha...) and it was SUPER good that he got in when he did! We left the clinic without taking our payment receipt, promising we'd return, so that we could try again getting through to our medical "before" proof of treatment. David actually found an alternative health insurance number and we sorted all of that out, returned for our receipt and prescription, and got some antibiotics into my man! We wanted to head to the library to use the free internet. I made David sit down (all that walking = no good... he's supposed to be in bed with ice and his foot up! ...Which is where we'll be after these posts... :)) and I went to find it. I seriously asked 4 people and got 4 different responses! They all told me the same street, but different sides and corners and coloured buildings from them all, haha! Thankfully I found it, but the computers were in use, so we conceded to use an internet cafe for now. Now it's time for me to go and buy some ice for Superman and get him back to the hostel to rest and maybe watch the Olympics! Oh and PLEASE, if someone could keep me updated with how the equestrian events are going, that'd be swell :). Also, if you need to get ahold of us for any reason, or even just to say "hi", feel free to email or facebook us--we're checking those!
